In early 2020 we were approached to design a nail salon in Jing’an district, Shanghai. The concept design for the project was guided by the notion of interacting with both sides of the site which were fully glazed. This introduced an opportunity to develop multiple layered views through the salon. The proposal took the form of a two-story jewelry box-like structure housing much of the furniture and equipment necessary for the salons operation, that in use would spill out into the tall atrium.
